Vakarų laivų gamykla has been one of the largest marine engineering industry groups in Lithuania for more than five decades. The group currently brings together 21 companies with different specializations and provides a full range of services across the entire ship lifecycle.

It is also the largest employer in Western Lithuania, creating more than 3,000 jobs.

We spoke with Laurynas Prikockis, IT Director.

How did the need for a CRM system arise?

The need to implement a CRM solution emerged in 2012, as the volume of information increased rapidly. It became impossible to manage this flow manually or keep track of all contacts. The need for analytics, timely decision-making, and employee turnover became key drivers for implementing a CRM system as soon as possible.

Why did you choose Microsoft Dynamics 365?

Back in 2012, we evaluated various CRM solutions, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales, but at that time the available on-premise version did not meet our needs. As the solution evolved and a cloud-based version became available, we adopted it in 2016. The decision was based on several factors:

  • The cloud-based system is independent from other business management systems and easy to use
  • Standard integrations with existing tools and infrastructure
  • Strong out-of-the-box functionality that can be used without extensive IT involvement
  • Competitive pricing

How long have you been using the CRM solution?

We have been using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales for five years. It has been a long and complex journey to adapt to the changes and transition from the previous system. However, joint efforts with Softera have resulted in a reliable tool that supports complex operations and enables real-time strategic decision-making.

How did work change after implementation?

The system introduced a structured way of working that was previously lacking. We have seen increased employee efficiency, improved communication, and better coordination between different companies working with the same client. It also became easier to analyze accumulated data and work more effectively with target audiences.
